People of France!
It has come to my knowledge, that something quite terrible has happened in your country. A wonderful culinary delight has disappeared without a trace, and apparently, with your silent consent. I'm talking, of course, about the undisputed star of the Monoprix private label – the Petits Choux Fourrés with blue cheese and walnut flavour.
The right product – the wrong flavour. ("Tapenade"!) Photo taken, as you can see, under considerable emotional stress
This week I was in Paris, and, with rising concern, walked into Monoprix after Monoprix – fruitlessly searching for this brilliant product. It was, however, nowhere to be found. The only possible conclusion is that it has been taken off the shelves, discontinued, gone forever.
I must say, I'm a bit surprised. You are known to stand up against injustice, after all, Revolution and all. And not just historically, oh no, not a month goes by without a news report about some grève of massive proportions. Not to mention your proud farmer's tradition of disposing turnips, bales of hay or giant amounts of manure on central roads and in front of ministries in order to show displeasure. Decent pay, student rights and more generous agriculture grants from the EU – all this you find worth fighting for, but the pleasure of a snack that's half-délicieux, half-dégoûtant, no!
Luckily, you can put everything right again, and I will tell you how. While in France, I also learned about your apéros géants – your habit of using Facebook and large public spaces to arrange collective drinking of rosé wine in plastic cups, making it look like you're drinking urine samples with blood in them. Well that's all very well, my Gallic friends, but why not put all this energy to better use? The next time you feel the urge to meet up with 10,000 of your closest, unsophisticatedly wine drinking potes, I suggest you storm the nearest Monoprix. Your demands will be as follows: reintroduce the Petits Choux Fourrés blue cheese and walnut, or face the guillotine.
You will be much rewarded, not only by the sensation of once again being able to enjoy a snack that's half-délicieux, half-dégoûtant, but also by my eternal gratitude.
Thank you,Ylva
